Horror Host Graveyard

Episode 156 of The Basement Sublet of Horror had Gunther Dedmund presenting the full length version of the rare 1965 film The Beast From The Beginning Of Time , which was made by and starred Tom Leahy, who also played The Host in the horror host show Nightmare . Tom Leahy played The Host on the Kansas based show Nightmare which ran off and on from the 1950s through to a revival in the mid 1990s. Although the actors who played his sidekick Rodney changed over the years, Tom was always a fixture of the show, in all its incarnations. Tom Leahy passed away on June 18, 2010. Gorgon the Gruesome hosted Nightmare on KFJZ-TV, Channel 11 in Dallas, Texas. The show began in September of 1957 and ran until 1959 and returned for a short run in 1962. Also, KFJZ-TV unearthed Gorgon for Halloween specials in 1972 and 1976. Bill Camfield, who played Gorgon, passed away in 1991. In 1991, Kilian Enterprises produced a trading card set based on the revived edition of the Nightmare show featuring The Host and Rodney on KSAS FOX Channel 24. The set included 25 cards and a extra card that could be sent in with $3.00 and a self addressed stamped envelope for two bonus cards that were signed by The Host and Rodney. All the cards featured pictures from the new edition of the show and included detailed facts on the back of most, with puzzle pieces making up the rest.
